Geolantis Wins Prestigious Austrian Award for “Smart City and Infrastructure” Two Years in a Row

Vienna, Austria— Utility management and solutions company Geolantis GmbH wins the 2019 eAward for the category “Smart City and Infrastructure” for digitalizing records of Zimbabwe’s access to clean water, following its 2018 eAward win in the same project category.

In 2018, Geolantis bagged the same award for its product which enabled the Australian company Utility Mapping Pty Ltd to digitize its workflows, including its surveying tasks, project management and QA documentation. Geolantis.360 is the company’s flagship product—a cloud-based, high precision mapping and project management software that for utility companies and contractors designed to reduce utility strikes and improve data integrity.

The eAward for “Smart City and Infrastructure”

Since 2005, the eAward has recognized companies with impressive and impactful IT related projects across several categories: Smart City and Infrastructure, Trade and Tourism, E-government, Industry 4.0, Education and Training, Work and Organization with the addition of the category “Social Responsibility” in 2019.

Considered one of the largest and most important IT business awards in Austria, the eAwards for the 7 categories are competed for by the best Austrian companies, ranging from start-ups to well established organizations, with projects and products that drive technological innovations, whether in Austria or all around the globe. This year, out of the thousands of nominations, there were 46 projects shortlisted across 7 categories and only the best 15 were chosen for the awards.

The Winning Project

Through the project “Geolantis.360 goes global: From Austria to Zimbabwe”, Geolantis created the framework for the digital documentation of Zimbabwe’s water infrastructure. For a country where water is scarce, a project like Geolantis’ is an excellent groundwork for efficiently managing the country’s precious water resource. And perhaps through a project like this, the nation may be looking at the end of its perennial water problems.

Part of the Geolantis.360 solution is to map Zimbabwe’s water infrastructure digitally and create a way to accurately detect active leaks in the pipelines and identify their exact location. This solution will help efficiently manage and prevent water loss that could have a potentially devastating impact on the nation’s local communities.

Besides the water infrastructure digital asset management solution, the Geolantis.360 software also allows the Zimbabwe water authority to efficiently manage the movement and performance of its personnel.

Accelerating Digital Transformation in the Subsurface Utility Industry

Empowering utilities, surveying and locating companies through digital transformation is the Geolantis core. With a focus on offering mobile solutions for GIS, mapping/surveying and asset management, Geolantis helps companies optimize workflows and in turn maximize profit and minimize losses.

Although an Austrian company, Geolantis aims to become the market leader subsurface utility mapping in every corner of the world, so it can help companies scale through its reliable, efficient, cloud-powered data and field management solutions. While two consecutive eAwards for “Smart City and Infrastructure” is just the beginning, they are proof that the Geolantis.360 solutions can impact companies and change lives on a global scale.
